Yes, the internet has made it easy to buy from the comfort of your own home. I’ve done it myself. We all know this is having a tremendous impact on small business across this country, even in Boulder. We’ve seen big box stores and national chains squeeze out our favorite local shops.
However, this does not have to continue. More importantly, you don’t have to give up options, convenience and value when you lay down your hard-earned cash.
Help your local community thrive
Don’t you enjoy walking into local shops and being greeted by someone who knows you? Is it not awesome to walk into a place which has roots in the community and cares about you? How cold it is walking into a national chain only to be greeted by bland-uniformed people who are only there for a paycheck – and don’t truly care about you. Spending your money in a locally owned shop keeps the money local – not into the corporate coffers of a NASDAQ traded conglomerate.
When local businesses do well, they hire more people – locally. When you walk into Alpine EyeCare Center, you are greeted by real people who live in Boulder. Real human interaction is priceless.
A Better, Cleaner and more vibrant Boulder
Who doesn’t love a pristine town with well-kept parks, open-spaces and incredible community events such as Boulder Creek Fest, the Bolder Boulder, Farmer’s Market to name a few? We cherish the safety of Boulder and its awesome city-sponsored support. A good part is paid for by private property taxes, but did you know local businesses contribute a very significant portion to these services? Business taxes far exceed individual property taxes. When you spend your money online, Boulder never enjoys one cent of that money.
Support Your Neighbors
Money spent at Alpine EyeCare Center is money spent wisely. As the sole owner and operator, I understand the tremendous pressure to support my employees; especially financially. Without exception, my employees perpetually want a raise. I’d love to give it to them. Unfortunately, meeting increasing expenses is a reality. More patients shopping on the internet and not spending money locally (incidentally I can fully compete against the internet on many levels) – means I can’t turn around and pay my employees what they deserve. Your choices have very real consequences.
I wish to thank those loyal to Alpine EyeCare Center! Do know I will do my best to repay you with the best value possible. Also, you are building a better Boulder for tomorrow. See you soon!
